Ode to a Blue Beard

Ode to a Blue Beard

Abandon ship for diapers and class

T-Shirts and jeans, no rules against sass.

And the daily shave, it was gone (says, Ange: alas!)

Day after day, a new beard grew like grass.

13 years in the Navy gave way

To rock and punk bands, practice each day,

And on one fateful St. Patty’s Day

A beard was dyed to Angela’s dismay.

It started out green, to celebrate the Isle,

And then became blue (to Angela, most vile)

One year later, it has its own style

A bit straight, a bit curly, it goes on for a mile.

Until one bright day, inspired by Chuck,

A lightbulb went off, a deal was struck.

It’s for the children, they have so much pluck

We need money from you (and a whole lot of luck).

Please give much and give often, your gift will provide

Money for research to help stem the tide

Of childhood cancer, a cause bona fide,

And of course, there’s an extra perk on the side.

Should his family and friends $1000 raise,

Russ will shave the beard from the past 400 days.

No beard, no ‘stache, no sideburns will stay.

It will all be gone, to Russ’ dismay.

(And to think- all you need to do is pay!)

Please help Russ reach his goal of $1000 for childhood cancer research, donate here:
